Composting

Composting diverts organic matter from the waste stream and can provide many benefits at the community level.   Making quality compost requires a long term commitment.

By using compost as an alternative to chemical fertilizers, natural resources are protected from nutrient loading.  Proper application of compost ensures that carbon is locked into the soil where the microbiome can flourush.    Timing is important so to ensure that before big rains and washed off of farm fields or from compost piles

Composting builds the microbial life of our soil, and increases its ability to hold water, while reducing erosion.

Diverting organic waste from the waste stream provides additional benefits of reducing methane emissions associated with anaerobic decomposition.
